Step 1: Determine if you are speaking with the decisionmaker

  • Save your list in .CSV format. Most email programs require this format for bulk uploads. If your contact list is currently saved as an excel spreadsheet (.xlsx), click “save as” and then choose “CSV Comma Delimited (.csv)”. If your list is in a CRM, you should be able to download your contacts in .csv format by default.
  • At a minimum, your list should have a First Name, Last Name, and Email column. We recommend adding as much information as you can about your prospective clients. For instance, if you have the prospective clients zip code, you have the potential to use that information to “geo-target” an email campaign for their specific area. First name is especially important as personalized email messages have a much higher open rate.
